FAO – Innovation in rural development policies

FAO, the Organization of the United Nations for Food and Agriculture, leads international efforts to defeat hunger and is a neutral forum where all the world’s nations can meet on equal terms to negotiate agreements and discuss policies. The FAO helps developing countries and countries in transition to modernize agriculture, silviculture, fishing, and guarantee every person a good diet. Since its foundation in 1945, special attention has been paid to the rural areas of developing countries, where 70 percent of the world’s low income and starved population is concentrated. The FUTOUR team has facilitated a meeting of FAO experts and a delegation of the European Network of Living Labs (ENOLL) on the enhancement of the role of innovation in rural development policies, starting from visions of the future to the development of new policies, operational instruments and partnerships.
