Bridge the gap between scientific research and public policy to drive the ecological and digital transition in European regions through evidence-based policies.
In a Europe called upon to manage epochal transitions, the distance between those who produce knowledge and those who write laws risks being a brake. For the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, FUTOUR transformed this challenge into an open innovation site. Through the “Science Meets Regions” program, we worked with 21 territories, from the heart of Brussels institutions to the continent’s most dynamic peripheries. Our approach was not to manage meetings, but to bring distant worlds together: we led co-design workshops, facilitating the meeting between scientists, politicians, and local actors. We used participatory methodologies to translate complex priorities, such as the Green Deal and the digital transition, into shared operational agendas, transforming thousands of stakeholders into true protagonists of change.
The impact was concrete and systemic. We supported the development of local strategies and action plans that gave new life to regional policies, ensuring that decisions were rooted in scientific evidence and active listening to the territory. The tangible result is not just a series of programmatic documents, but a new administrative culture where participation becomes a strategic lever.
