The FAO helps developing countries and countries in transition to modernize agriculture, silviculture, fishing, and guarantee every person a good diet. Since its foundation in 1945, special attention has been paid to the rural areas of developing countries, where 70 percent of the world&#8217;s low income and starved population is concentrated.
