Facing growing climate instability, the Po Basin represents a challenge of unique proportions: a territory crossing eight regions, encompassing over three thousand three hundred municipalities, and protecting the daily lives of twenty million inhabitants. For the Basin Authority and the JRC, FUTOUR turned this challenge into a social innovation site. We didn’t just moderate; we led the Riskilience Innovation Camp in Bologna, creating an ecosystem where scientists, administrators, and citizens stopped speaking different languages to collaborate on a single vision. We transformed the technical complexity of probabilistic models into a fluid dialogue, stimulating the co-design of local responses that integrate historical memory and new technologies, making resilience a common heritage.
Our intervention generated a systemic impact, catalyzing the creation of innovative prototypes integrated into the Flood Risk Management Plan. We turned abstract ideas into concrete tools, defining an operational roadmap for the next six years. FUTOUR’s added value was making the citizen a conscious ally in collective resilience. We converted the fear of the unknown into a governance model where scientific data guides shared local actions, ensuring safety for the entire Po district.
