In an era of global challenges, the European Union risked appearing distant. Our task was to break down that wall. We led a democratic journey that transformed the debate on migration, economy, and foreign policy into a lively conversation among institutions, intellectuals, and citizens. We didn’t manage simple meetings, but true ecosystems of thought. Through innovative formats, we combined the rigor of technical discussion with the spontaneity of working dinners, where ideas flowed freely. We acted as architects of the debate, transforming specialized knowledge into a collective resource, ready to capture the weak signals of society to transform them into structured policy proposals.
The value of this path produced tangible results. We channeled critical visions into cutting-edge proposals: from a separate Eurozone budget to direct election of the Commission President, to the Charter of European Citizenship. Beyond political results, we left a civic imprint, promoting democratic literacy and the “Europeanization” of national debate. Thanks to our intervention, what began as an experiment transformed into a public heritage of ideas. We demonstrated that Europe can be heard if it knows how to listen.
